Verily Healthy at Work is a software product that enables organizations to return to work and campus safely. It integrated daily symptom screening, COVID-19 testing, population analytics, and ongoing safety controls. Led technical development activities and timeline from product kickoff in March to pilot launch in June and scaled launch of >100k users in August. Coordinated a large cross-functional team across leadership, engineering, product, quality and regulatory.
Lead mechanical engineer on the award winning Lumi by Pampers diaper sensor from early stages through mass production. Also led development of the initial packaging design from requirements through prototyping and user testing. Coordinated with camera vendor Logitech on design and development of the monitor.
Mechanical design of exterior housings for Baxter, the novel industrial robot from Rethink Robotics. Worked with our in house industrial design team to propose various design directions and implementation of the chosen concept. Responsible for the full Solidworks master model, including all surfacing, as well as the detailed design of the plastic parts for fabrication. Worked closely with the Rethink in-house team to ensure that the mechanisms and housings worked together seamlessly. Supported the project through various prototypes and initial production.
Mechanical design of a novel open-air florescence imaging for animals. The real-time imaging required an adjustable but stable imaging head weighing around 40 lbs. Completed the design of the internal structure, head adjustment mechanism and all housings. Initial prototype was successfully demo-ed at a key customer show before moving into low volume manufacture.
Worked with an MIT-based startup to develop a consumer level powered prosthetic foot. Completed a full overhaul on the mechanical design to reduce weight and size while maintaining function and durability. Led the design and development effort, as well as contributed to test fixture design and verification efforts.
Worked with a MIT-based startup on development of a fuel-cell based recharging unit. Completed the mechanical design of the housings, working closely with the in-house technical team since space was at a premium. Built several looks-like works-like prototypes for demo at CES.
Design and development of a novel video laryngoscope. System had to be usable in emergency situations with existing incubation tubes. Responsible for mechanical design of over-molded plastic parts as well as support through initial production. Design won a Gold 2012 Medical Design Excellence Award.
Responsible for entire mechanical design including internal mechanisms and external housings. Prototyped and developed lighting system for base and stylus. System was designed to be a lower-cost consumer level item. Supported through initial high volume production and assembly including verification testing. Demonstrated at 2015 CES show.
Enclosure design and mechanical support for a novel automated quantitative pathology machine. Initial work revolved around ergonomics and usability of the machine in conjunction with the industrial design team. Responsible for the internal support structure as well as the external housings and door mechanism.
Led the mechanical team in development of a novel robotic surgical system. Responsible for the reusable and disposable elements of the product as well as the system of use, including the control console. Worked closely with in-house team of engineers to to fabricate looks-like works-like prototypes. Brought in again for support on a later iteration of the disposable to reduce size and cost. Won Best-in-Show in the 2016 Medical Design Excellence Awards.
